Discover Slovenia and Croatia
July 2022.

Dear Emina and Ivona,
A million thanks to you both for helping us create a marvellous trip to Croatia and Slovenia. Your planning was perfection, we loved the history, the beauty, the people and the superb activities. It was wonderful to be in such varied environments as the ocean, the dry interior, then the lush green of Plitvice.

We so appreciated your flexibility in letting us do portions on our own. It made it all possible. Your phone call check-in’s were great to receive and it was so reassuring to know we could call you if we needed you. The accommodation you booked was excellent and our favourite Villa Nobile, was truly a gem.

The tours, as I am sure you know, were truly top-notch and the guides were superb! Maris and Dino made Dubrovnik and Split with their fascinating histories, come alive for us. Our day with Maro, the 17th generation to shepherd their precious vineyard was great fun and also touched our hearts. The truffle hunt was unforgettable. Ivana and her husband were so much fun. We loved meeting Ivana’s father and hunting with the dogs was a marvellous experience – as was the superb lunch . Mirna at Plitvice is a treasure. We soaked in her passion, and so enjoyed her company as we oohed and awed at beauty after beauty. Our joy is definitely radiated in the many pictures she took of us.

Our drivers were all excellent.

We just have one suggestion. While we enjoyed the company of Stasha in Ljubljana for the foodie walking tour, we were disappointed in the tour itself. We first sat down with bread and sausage and then moved on in 34 F to an outdoor restaurant where she brought big bowls of hot mushroom soup and very large portions of specialty breads for each of us. We were all very keen to taste and learn and yet these portions were huge, and the foods were unfortunately not varied enough to make a well- rounded tasting. A couple of days later we happened upon a marvellous store Tartufi Deli Shop and spent a wonderful hour with the owner Bojan Bremec who was passionate about Slovenian food. He’d be the perfect match for Secret Dalmatia. His shop would be a great stop on the tour. We greatly enjoyed his tastings and savoured the truffle cheese we bought from him for 4 days – divine! I will send a few pictures of his shop and certainly hope you don’t mind this one small complaint and suggestion!

We are truly glowing from all our experiences. There is so much to see in Croatia, we would love to come back one day and explore more. If ever you come to Canada, we would be so happy to give you suggestions about our highlights here.
Many thanks again
