Hello – both Erin and I are back home safely in New Jersey and Maryland respectively! We honestly cannot thank you enough for such an amazing, one-of-a-kind, personalized trip. We are both so overwhelmed with gratitude for the unbelievable experiences that you provided us. Every guide, chauffer, skipper, chef, winemaker was exceptional in their expertise, experience, and warmth. We felt like we became a part of their family – literally!
Although we were both a bit tired after the trip, our first day in Croatia was special as our chauffer picked us up at the airport promptly and whisked us off the Split! The Hotel Park was delightful, with two floors of living space, lovely wine and fruit to greet us each day, and such accommodating staff. We enjoyed the local restaurant Dvor that evening, which was such a treat to be dining on the sea with such exceptional food.
The next day, the lovely Petra picked us up and took us to city center for our tour with Natasa – what a delight she was and again so knowledgeable! She even helped Erin get new sunglasses, which were much needed – Dolce & Gabbana no less! Natasa was a true fashionista as well! She also recommended our lunch restaurant, which was absolutely a treat. That night we did Konoba Fetivi, which was also a delight – the white wine on tap was a surprise, as well as the delicious meal!
The next day was AMAZING as we hit the fresh marketplace, butcher, and seafood market with Tatjana in Trogir. I chopped, Erin cleaned and scaled a fish and squid, and we cooked out hearts out. Tatjana is a real gift and to be in her home cooking and eating was a true highlight of our trip.
We called the next day boat day, which was probably our most favorite day! Our skipper and hostess Maggie showed us Vis and Bisevo, but also took us to the green cave, found a place where Erin could jump into the sea, took us to an amazing restaurant for lunch, and then even got me into the sea! The amount of refreshments on board was overwhelming (and the wine flowed)!
Hotel Maslina was magnificent – very zen! It was a great change of pace for sure. Loridanna was an amazing guide and we loved our tour. But it was so magical to have dinner at Restaurant Maslina – a definite oh wow moment coming upon the restaurant itself, watching the sunset, and enjoy such amazing, lovingly cooked food! The wine was delightful as well!
Wow, were we impressed with the speedboat transfer from Hvar back to Split – that boat was FAST!! And then the trip back to Dubrovnik with our amazing chauffer from the first day – and we were awake this time! But yet another oh wow moment when we stopped at the Arboretum to have lunch with Chef Katja – magnificent!
We LOVED Hotel Dubrovnik – what a warm and friendly place and staff. We took advantage of the pool, restaurant, wine and prosciutto bar, and all their amenities.
Our Dubrovnik guide was one of the most knowledgeable, sharing such history and providing a wonderful tour!
What can we say about Mario? What a treat it was to spend the day with him, taking us to several different wineries and sharing his own home. He definitely became family and we were truly blessed to have tasted his wine, shared a table, and had such a great tour of the peninsula.
Erin and I couldn’t believe that the next day we actually held silk worms in our hands and watched them eat! It was amazing to see the process of silk making – we were in awe. The Mujo family treated us to such a FEAST! Again, such warm hospitality, wonderful food and olive oil to die for (especially with their homemade bread!).
What can we say about the One and Only? It truly was! The resort was GORGEOUS, the room was exceptional, and the amenities were just outstanding (so many pools to choose from!) We also enjoyed our boat tour of the Boka Bay and Kotor. Our guide was exceptional and had such good stories (our favorite was Our Lady of the Rocks). I will say that getting in and out of the boat was a bit of a challenge for me but with the help of our guide, skipper and Erin, we got it accomplished!
Our final day was a much needed day of rest and relaxation before getting up early and making the trek home.
THANK YOU for making all of these take-your-breath away moments and experiences for us. THANK YOU for checking in on us constantly and helping us cancel dinner when we were so full from the magnificent lunches! THANK YOU for always being available and rearranging whatever was needed (thankfully we didn’t have to do the Covid testing!). And THANK YOU for the trip of a lifetime, which we got to enjoy together, making memories that each of us will treasure forever.
If there is any recommendation or review that Erin and I can provide, please just let us know. We will sing your praises for sure!
With the deepest of gratitude.
Mary Jo and Erin
